The Building
Two Hundred Years In The Making.
Before Black Rabbit, this Grade II listed building was known as The Grapes Hotel. It has stood at the heart of Croston for around 200 years, close to the River Yarrow.
Its age and existing character shaped the place it has become. Today, the historic inn has entered a new chapter as Black Rabbit.
The Name
The Rabbit Behind The Name.
The name Black Rabbit draws inspiration from the De Trafford family of Croston Old Hall and a curious local story surrounding Ermy De Trafford, who is said to have bred unusually large rabbits.
Part history, part folklore, the tale became the starting point for a new identity rooted in Croston.
